A six week class co-sponsored by Mountain Projects Senior Programs and the Southwestern Commission Area Agency on Aging will begin March 24th and continue for six weeks.  This self-management workshop is for individuals with any type of ongoing health challenges which may include heart disease, lung disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, overweight, fibromyalgia, and others.  This workshop, know as the Living Healthy Workshop, was designed at Stanford University and research studies have shown it is extremely effective in helping people manage their health.

The Living Healthy Working prepares participants to deal with pain and extreme tiredness, eat for better health, manage emotions, reduce stress, and have an overall higher quality of life.  Some of the subjects covered in the classes include: how to evaluate new treatments, appropriate exercises for increasing strength and flexibility, appropriate use of medications, communicating effectively with family and health professionals, and dealing with pain and fatigue. Classes are offered at no cost and each participant will receive a copy of the companion book, “Living Healthy with Chronic Conditions,” and an audio relaxation CD, “Time for Healing.”

The workshop will be held from 12:30pm until 3:00 pm on Tuesdays for six consecutive weeks except for one class offered on a Monday. All six classes will be held at the Canton Senior Center. Nutritious snacks will be provided. Interested participants must sign up for the workshop by March 18th.  Limited space is available.  For more information contact Eddie Wells at 452-1447.
